Fireless

Fireless is the new polyester fibre intrinsically flame retardant, developed by Filature Miroglio to meet the growing demand for improved safety through flame retardant fabrics.

Fireless yarns are a further step forward in achieving sustainable development because they are produced starting from the recycling of plastic bottles collected in Europe.

The flame retardant properties of Fireless are obtained by an additive that is mixed intimately with the molecular chain of polyethylene terephthalate. This additive, due to the effect of phosphoric compounds, allows to:

  • increase the amount of heat and oxygen necessary for combustion
  • reduce the speed at which inflammable gases are produced as well as their quantity
  • facilitate the formation of volatile products which are non-flammable and inhibit oxidation

Fireless reduces the risk of fire by creating the first barrier to flames and delaying its activation. If the fire is already ongoing, products made with Fireless do not generate noxious fumes and reduce the propagation of the flames.

Fireless is available in a wide range of counts and types for all end uses in textiles. Filament yarns are available as: flat, textured, twisted, crèpe, as well as fancy yarns with different bulk and twist, and are all available on weaving and warp-knitting beams.
