Filature Miroglio, an internal division of Miroglio Textile, has been an international leader in the production of polyester filament and spun yarns for over 30 years.
Miroglio Textile’s production capacity has been developed by its modern factories situated in Saluzzo, (Italy), Nova Zagora (Bulgaria), Boumerdes (Tunisia).
Product portfolio and Technology
Filature Miroglio invests in responsible innovation. As a result of this strategic choice and thanks to 4 years of research, 2 million euro investment in "research and development" and a great deal of coordination, Filature Miroglio launches onto the market the technologically innovative platform Newlife™. Newlife™ is certified through a comprehensive production approach and it offers a wide range of excellent quality, high performance recycled polyester filament yarn, coming 100% from postconsumer bottles sourced, processed into a polymer through a mechanical process, not chemical, and spin into yarn completely in Italy, thanks to an exclusive horizontal partnership agreement.
Filature Miroglio offers sophisticated and multipurpose products: Newlife™ (on top of this Newlife™ has already become the base for a part of the high tech yarn ranges of Filature Miroglio such as X-dry™, Silverwall™, Shadow 50+™, Pruvf™, Decora™, Silkiss™, Protec™), Drycot™, Wolkiss™, Elastil™, Ten +™, Sens™, Ingeo™. Using the polyester chip as a starting block, Filature Miroglio produces POY, flat, textured, raw and dope dyed yarns with multipurpose features. The yearly production of POY alone is around 10,000 tons.
Filature Miroglio produces a wide range of types and counts from 33 Dtex to 2000 Dtex, used by its customers for the creation of knitted fabrics and weaves in different sectors, among which fashion garments, sportswear, workwear, furniture, home textiles and technical fabrics.
Thanks to its cutting-edge technology, Filature Miroglio can add different additives during the spinning process endowing the yarn with specific functional properties: antibacterial, flame retardant and UV resistant. These properties are not altered by repeated washing because they are intrinsic to the yarn. A blend of these properties enables the production of multipurpose yarns that are highly appreciated by the technical textile industry.
Filature Miroglio has always been aware of environmental issues and it is currently involved in two sustainable projects:
1. Newlife™: Newlife™ product platform is a unique, complete and certified system of recycled polyester filament yarns coming 100% from postconsumer bottles sourced, processed into a polymer through a mechanical process, not chemical, and spin into yarn completely in Italy, thanks to an exclusive horizontal partnership agreement. The entire production process is OekoTex certified and has also obtained the brand ‘Plastica Seconda Vita’, issued by the Istituto Italiano dei Plastici (I.I.P) that guarantees post-consumer origin and traceability back to the company collecting bottles from separate waste disposal areas.
2. NatureWorks: Filature Miroglio is also a partner of NatureWorks for the supply of fibres and yarns deriving from the Ingeo™ biopolymer, a product that contributes to saving non-renewable resources such as oil. Ingeo™ yarns are available as Poy, flat, textured, crêpe and twisted. Microfibre, hollow section yarns, spun dyed yarns are also available. The use of annually renewable resources instead of oil to produce plastic material reduces dependence on fossil fuels and helps in decreasing the carbon dioxide emissions through a more sustainable manufacturing process. Ingeo™ is the world’s first polymer showing a significant reduction in greenhouse emissions. Replacing oil with a renewable resource such as plants, NatureWorks LLC uses 67% less fossil fuels compared to traditional polymers. This eco-sustainable commitment is monitored through a strict environmental evaluation that is peer-reviewed and published on Industrial Biotechnology. Last but not least, Filature Miroglio signed partnership with C.L.A.S.S. platform (Creativity, Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy). Filature Miroglio has recently signed as C.L.A.S.S. Eco-Material partner with its Newlife™ platform in order to concretely support the vision of C.L.A.S.S. and its new way to do business, providing innovative products which are technological and responsible at the same time and to develop innovative, responsible and commercial synergies fostering the designers (fashion-design, interior-design) thanks to the uniquenesses of Newlife™. C.L.A.S.S. is a global network of three showrooms in Milan, London and New York founded in 2007 which supports and promotes environmentally sensible products for fashion, home and design through a wide range of eco-textiles, yarns, processes and services.
